Who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how Scanventory (“we”, “us”) handles personal data when you visit scanventory.net, including our documentation and related pages. Scanventory is a WooCommerce inventory management plugin and its marketing website.
What this policy covers
It applies to visitors of our website. It does not cover:
- How merchants use Scanventory inside their own WooCommerce stores
- Third-party marketplaces where the plugin is sold (for example Envato / CodeCanyon), which have their own policies
Data we collect
Depending on how you use the site, we may process:
- Contact submissions — name, email address, and message content you send through our contact form
- Chat / support messages — content you voluntarily submit if you use on-site chat
- Analytics data — approximate location, device/browser information, pages viewed, and referring URLs, collected via Google Analytics 4 only if you accept analytics cookies
- Technical logs — standard server logs such as IP address, timestamp, and requested URL, needed to operate and secure the website
Cookies and similar technologies
We use:
- Essential cookies / local storage — to remember your cookie preference (
sv_cookie_consent) - Analytics cookies — Google Analytics 4 (
G-QN1QJ9XNXG), loaded only after you click Accept
Until you accept, Google tags run in Consent Mode with analytics storage denied. Choosing Reject or closing the banner keeps analytics off. You can change your mind later by clearing site data for scanventory.net and reloading the page.
Why we process data
- To respond to enquiries and provide support
- To understand how the website is used and improve content and performance
- To keep the site secure and working reliably
- To meet legal obligations where applicable
Where GDPR applies, our legal bases are typically consent (analytics cookies), legitimate interests (site security and basic operations), and contract / pre-contract steps when you ask us about the product.
Who we share data with
We use trusted processors to run the site:
- Google Analytics — website analytics (only with your consent)
- Hosting / CDN providers — to serve the website (including Cloudflare for delivery and security)
- Backend services used for contact or chat features, when you submit information through those tools
We do not sell your personal data.
International transfers
Some providers (including Google) may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses offered by those providers.
How long we keep data
- Contact and support messages — retained as long as needed to handle your request and for a reasonable follow-up period
- Analytics — retained according to our Google Analytics retention settings
- Cookie preference — up to 180 days (or until you clear it)
- Server logs — retained for a limited period for security and troubleshooting
